The New IT System and Certification of Digital Formats.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE ABC

NEW I.T. SYSTEM

The ABC has embarked on a project to rewrite its I.T. system. The current system has limitations in its functionality, and because of outdated technology has become difficult to maintain. The changeover to the new system should be seamless, with very little change to the method of data submission. One important change will be to the User name and Password.

The first time you use the new system it will prompt you to change your User name and Password, as we want to move away from using ID numbers.

The most visible change will be in availability of information. In addition to the current reports, members will have the ability to:

• Do trend analyses from 2006;

• View history of a publication over selected periods;

• Compare the data of selected titles over selected periods;

• Display data graphically;

• Make use of a query function.

More information will be forwarded to members in due course.

CERTIFICATION OF DIGITAL FORMATS

The ABC is currently investigating the certification of digital formats, including digital-only publications, web traffic, and e-mail newsletters. With the proliferation of digital formats, this is an obvious direction for the ABC to take.
